about

I am trying to be tactful so didn't want to put anything obvious in the title. I have been browsing color sites trying to learn a bit more about color genetics. Since I don't know much i could easily read something and learn misinformation. One site I came on that seemed good is Horse Color Genetics. Would anyone care to recommend this site or perhaps simply recommend sites? If the moderator feels it is not cool to actually mention a site, let me know and i will edit or go ahead and take out the name. Thank you for your help.

We're all about learning here, no matter where you do it (as long as the source is accurate).

This site has alot of information at the main address. My site has some and I'm expanding it very soon (adding at least three more genes hopefully).

These are all sites I really like:

http://www.accphotography.com/genetics…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://colormorgans.tripod.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://duncentralstation.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.doubledilute.com/main.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also VGl is a good site:
http://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/services/coa…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm sure there are others, but that's off the top of my head.

LOL I agree with ACC that those are great sites, and I will add my own blog as well.

thanks, will check those out for sure.

riddle, I love your avatar, whats it called?

accphotography Sun, 02/07/2010 - 23:06

I think it's just a stylized double helix.

accphotography Sun, 02/07/2010 - 23:47

Oh wow! I'm sure I've seen the full version but I forgot. It's gorgeous!

these are all great links and i've bookmarked the ones I didn't already have (had ACC's site and the Colorful Morgans and Dun Central Station). There is a great lack of informative/useful horsey genetic sites out there...that are correct. I'm having to relearn some things thanks to a couple of sites that ingrained wrong info in my head...but I'm wrapping my head around it all now..LOL

If RMT and I both ever finish our sites I think they'll be excellent resources... but I'm biased. :mrgreen: And yes, we do both need to do it even though we agree on everything. They're written very differently IMO. :mrgreen:

Agreed! LOL I did just put out my Rabicano post yesterday...may start working on the next one soon.

I'm going to post my Pearl addition soon.

This site has been around almost as long at the old EquineColors site. I don't think it's ever been finished, but it was very good - http://www.horsecolor.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is all that remains of the Brindle Horse website, which predated the old site, and was, bar none, the best resource out there for studying brindling, countershading, dun factor, etc. - http://www.brindlehorses.com/battyatty/…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This site pioneered research into several dilutions which have now been explained, and probably remains the best out there for the unexplained; http://www.newdilutions.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I haven't gone through all of it, but what I have has been excellent - http://www.whitehorseproductions.com/in…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now this site is interesting. It's not finished, but it looks like it's going to be very good. I really like the set-up - http://www.equine-color.com/horse_basec…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The go-to site for anything champagne - http://www.ichregistry.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is a beautiful site and a great resource for silver - http://www.silverequine.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I like it alot as well. I wish I had thought of it.

I think it's going to be a game site.

TheRedHayflinger Wed, 02/10/2010 - 15:53

last i heard, which was about a year ago, she lost the login info for that (she may have found it by now though or remembered it). It isn't going to be a game site, it's layout is just similar to her game.

accphotography Wed, 02/10/2010 - 20:38

Oooooh. Interesting. Will she redo it? Is this a Branik site??

TheRedHayflinger Thu, 02/11/2010 - 09:47

not sure if she is going to finish it or not honestly. I stopped playing her game due to lack of time and thus have not spoken to her. Yes..this is a Branik site. She had a lot of great ideas and such for it too, I really hope she does get to it someday.

accphotography Thu, 02/11/2010 - 14:56

I thought it felt like her work. She has always been very organized like that. I'll be itnerested to see if she ever pursues something like it again.
