Any research done on this?

I am theorizing there is a positive correlation between affinity for mud and the lightness of coat color. My first subject offered as "evidence" is pictured below, my cremello mare. :rofl

Jafo - how did you get a pix of my stud? :o I swear that is him in your photo... :rofl

The hay man was dropping off some round bales today (I only use them in extreme weather - which we know is on the way AGAIN), commented on my cute palomino colt....I laughed at him and said it was a cremello stud, and he was really white underneath.... but if he wanted to go check for himself..... :bounce :booty
He did fall in love with Goldie (Luna's 9 mo. old pali filly) when he saw her though.

Nope I went and checked...just growing boobies under there (she's due in March)...no boy parts at all!! :rofl Pretty sure she's a girl!

It is amazing though...she's turned out with two bay mares. One bay mare has a muddy spot on her withers from rolling. One bay mare has mud on her otherwise white stockings. But the white mare....well you saw the picture. Her palomino daughter is turned out with a buckskin, a sorrel, and a bay and it's the same story-muddy palomino, not muddy others!

Mom is sure she will be spending all summer bathing one "white" horse after the other. We have one grey, one perlino, one cermello, one max white, and four palominos :) And that doesn't count the new mare Saton and all the others that have white legs. :rofl

Good thing we found a bunk shampoo we like :rofl

Oh well looks like I found a good place to start the research of my theory ;-) Just turn them out every day in the dirt with dark horses and compare the results. Let us know. It'll be a good project LOL. We can have Nancy help us type up a good article when we are done!!

OK you got me...that looks like two words that I know what each means but have no idea what you mean when you stick them together with that hypen :D

In the video ad, CA was extolling it's virtues and a comment he made, stuck with me ... about how simply spraying it on would draw the dirt from the skin surface to the ends of the hair shafts, rinsing cleanly away...also, that repeated use intensified the cleaning/repelling affect and it would not negatively damage the horse's skin/coat by depleting it of oils.

Is EZ-All basically a spray on 'fabric softener / static guard' to repell grime? :P

Well, you know, I have tried stuffing them in the washing machine, but this just looks so much easier!
Do you think they would be interested in a UK agent??

To get back to the original post, Yes, I think the evidence is irrefutable.
Dirt is actually magnetically attracted to lighter horses....and people too.
Try this simple test:
Walk across your yard in your normal outdoor clothes (don't know about you but for me this looks like a cross between a Hobbit and a bag lady!!)
At the end of your stroll you will have picked up a prerequisite amount of dirt on your boots and maybe a bit on your trousers (remember you are only walking, not working)
Now, try the same thing when you are late for a dentist appointment/Doctors/Friends Wedding, etc etc.
I can guarantee your face, hands, legs and any clothing you value, especially the lighter coloured items, will be covered in mud, and you will probably have lost a shoe as well :rofl

WOW! I'm getting some of that! I've seen it at tractor supply before! As soon as it gets warm again (it's a rainy nasty 45 degrees today! The other day it was 70 and sunny...) and the ponies start shedding Jazz is getting a good bath in that! I need to take some nice, square, 4 year old pictures! Her birthday is a month away and she's still just a lawn ornament.

And I will say, Mist kept herself pretty clean, but Nike likes to go roll in the mud, then in the sand, so he looks like a pinto!!! Jazz gets her socks muddy but the rest of her is generally nice.

I agree on so many basis - yes wear your best clothes you will get filthy, but on a purely serious note, do the lighter horses use the mud to camoflauge themselves or even protect them from the sun because you are right, my Lipis were always covered in mud, but strangely the youngsters who had yet to turn white did not !!!...and I now love having a bay - so easy to clean !!! :D

That is the standard uniform for mini owners ... I thought that was common knowledge
I also have one of those pally and white dirt magnets in among the gleaming ones
:rofl :rofl :rofl

Oh yeah. I have a black hoodie I've worn multiple times and never got a thing on it. But I wear my gorgeous ivory one ONCE and have crud all over it.

We used that stuff at the cutting barn and I really did like it. You still have to scrub a bit if it's not just dirt (you know the gooky stuff they get on legs and things). I think it's great because your not currying on them while wet and breaking hairs :) And just the TIME savings was great, we were always behind and if one needed washing it was that easy, special life saver before a show when you still had to do all the normal riding and work and get the show horses spotless.

Oh and I think I have some additional photographic proof of your theory laying around somewhere. :rofl
