What's wrong with her???

I have a problem! We just moved into our new place tuesday night, and the AC has been out till around noon today. It was 96 outside most of the time, and hot inside. A roommate opened the window and Riot got out and got in a fight with a neighbor cat and has a lump on her back where she got bit. But this particular problem started before that, I think it's because of the heat. She's just lethargic. She's not my energetic bundle of cuddles, she's just not the same. She also seems sunken in around her loins, so I think she's dehydrated. I refilled her favorite fishtank, but she won't drink out of it, and i poured her a few pieces of tuna in some juice and water, which she normally loves, but she licked it just a little and then "buried" it. She's just slept most of the day, which is not like her! She didn't cuddle up to me at all last night, she slept in a chair across the room, and she won't sit in my lap and doesn't want to be held. Is she stressed about the move? Is she depressed? Is she dehydrated? What's going on!? She seems to be eating well, but she certainly is not playing. I haven't seen her run since wednesday morning.

I would have said check for an abcess but if it started before then I would be worried about dehydration - is her coat starry ?? I don't know what to suggest but if it carries on I'd get her checked over by a vet...keep us posted.

I personally would get her to the vet ASAP.

Not sure if you remember the problems we started having with my dog, but this is exactly how it started (though he was vomiting as well).

He was lethargic wouldnt want to be help would NOT kiss my mom, and just generally not himself.

I made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon, I really don't want to deal with an abscess. The AC is out again, too. Which is grand. We have NO idea when the apt will send the repair guy out again. I can't spend another night in this though, I'm about to demand they put us up in a hotel, this apt is to expensive to deal with this crap.
Anyway, cross your fingers for Riot.

It's infected. Back bites are in bad spots on bone and are fairly common from a cat fight. Clean the wound and get her on antibiotics. You don't have some clavomox or your vet can't let you pick some up if they can't see her sooner?

The lump sounds like an abcess and a vet will need to possibly drain it and give her a course of anti-biotics. Her sunken flanks sound like dehydration and you may want to point that out to the vet and ask if sub-q bluids could help her to feel better and if they'd di it.
As for the lethargy...how much do *you* want to move around when its' that hot out? ;)
We've had AC problems since we bought this house and this summer my husband got fed-up and purchased two window-mount ACs, one in the kitchen and one in the go-to-hell-room and we used fans to help blow the cooler air through the house. Prior to that, one of my long haired cats wouldn't play. After the ACs helped cool the house? She was like a dynamo tearing around the house! Temperature controls a lot of a cat's activity level and if Riot is feeling poorly because of the bite then the heat is just compounding her problems and making her feel even worse.

Definitly get her checked out! I lost a cat like that to complications from a fight. antibiotics and cleaning the wounds out and he just didn't want to fight it after a while......

I got her some wet food and watered it down, and she lapped all the juice up, so I'm glad to get some fluids in her for sure, She seems to be perking up a bit, thought it's still hot as blazes, and muggy. She cuddled a little earlier and purred when I got home, so that makes me happy.
And if I were in shreveport I'd have all the antibiotics I'd need, but I'm not...so yeah, I gotta deal with the vet....yay.
It no longer seems swollen, and she'll let me touch it more, but if I poke too hard she cries.

Keep us posted... I have actually had to resort to using 6cc suringes full of watered down "kittie milk" to get liquids in some of mine. I also use beef and/or chicken bouillion cubes to make a thick broth for them (they all love eating it)
