boggy hock?

Forums

i noticed a soft swelling on the inside of Nobles hock towards the front. He has started working more and is in sand for the first time. the swelling is very small and i don't think i would have noticed if i hadn't touched it and it squished a bit. should i be worried? wrap it? its not big enough to be considered a blemish, so should i just keep an eye on it? should i slow down his work? he is 100% sound

sorry was having a blond moment !!! thought it said Fetlock !! But there is no reason why you couldnt have something similar to Wingalls on the hock - kinda like Bursitis - can't spell - but swelling of the synovial fluid around the joint due to trauma. How is it now?

still about the same....but still just barely palpable....not obvious without really looking.

I have a windpuff type thingy on my shin...it doesn't bother me.I don't know what it is, all I know is that I came down on my shin with a sledgehammer when I was maybe 8 or 9, and ever since I have a bump on my leg, that you can only really see if I straighten it out. It's squishy and freaks my friends out, but it doesn't hurt at all. It's the same principal as a windpuff, just obviously not on my fetlock, or even on a joint. It feels like there's a fluid under there....I dunno...I think it can happen anywhere there might have been trauma.

sounds like a bog spavin , can be serious in some cases , it can be a sign of degenerative joint disease or strain , could even be an infection , I would at the very least talk to your vet

went away with rest...im thinking maybe just a little strain from working in the wet sand :)
