Re: Greetings!
Welcome :newbie and I look forward to reading your post. Don't be afraid to include pictures of your "subjects" - we are addicted to pictures. :bounce
I too read all the Henry books as a young girl. Then, once I moved to Virginia and living along the Chesapeake Bay, I renewed my interest. So, after attending more than one "swim" and Pony Penning, I am thrilled someone is looking into the color genetics of those adorable ponies. For ferel ponies they have the sweetest natures to them. :love
Oh, we have ferel ponies living close to us here in the Va. mountains you might be interest in looking into for comparison...they are in the Mount Rogers NRA near Mount of Wilson, Va.
;)
Re: Greetings!
Thanks for the welcome! Glad to see some Chincoteague and Misty fans \:D/ Hopefully I'll have time soon to share some pictures with y'all :D I probably have several thousand. I'm not able to go to Pony Penning this year but I know enough people going I should get enough reports and pictures of this year's foal crop to keep me happy. I already heard a smokey black tobiano mare had another palomino tobiano this year. The sire is a chestnut tobiano+sabino. Because testing is pretty well impossible for the wild ones I have to go by produce records to determine ponies like her.
critterkeeper,
Oh yay, you've been to Penning! Last year's was my 8th. It's killing me missing this year, but there's nothing I can do about it. They are sweet for wild ponies aren't they :X I think it's because they're so used to the chaos of Pony Penning. Interesting about the Mount Rogers ponies, I hadn't heard of them before. I'll have do some research on them!
