Hello from the new girl!

Hello! Intro time. My name is Diane Blanzy and I reside in central Michigan. I own 8 horses. 6 are Registered Percherons. 3 of them are black. 1 is just grey. 2 are blue roan who are going grey. The most popular is my colorful oddity Bodi who is a 3/4ths Morgan, 1/4th QH. Last but not least is my Registered Arabian mare Ava. I only breed on occasion and have been very responsible for all my "babies" I've brought into the world. I would like to help continue to promote the Percheron breed, even if it is only on a small scale. Even that can make a difference. I know the basics of color genetics. However when you get into identifying multiple color patterns such as tobiano, overo, sabino, splash... sometimes I'm right. Sometimes it's speculation. I know them individually. Don't get me into Pearl or Champagne yet. I've actually been bitten by the color bug since around 00/01'. I have a color project going on that has been for the past 5 years. I am literally hunting down and documenting purebred and registered only Blue Roans as well as Bays in the Percheron breed. My favorite style of horse are usually "baroque" in build. I'm a bone junkie and usually always pick older style horses in their breeds. I ride and have shown multiple seats. Western, Huntseat, and Saddleseat. I've messed around a little in dressage and jumping but avoided it for lack of proper instruction from a capable individual. However I think I'm rusty and out of shape and my goal is to continue to perfect my riding skills as well as my driving skills. I've been driving horses for 4 years now and I love it! Maybe even more than riding. My worst habit. I have a tendancy to talk about people and horses from online as if I've met them. lol. (only with other horse nuts) I can usually identify people by their horses before I can indentify a person just by themselves. I've chatted on multiple forums over the years since 97'. HorseChat, Morgans of Color, HGS, I'm known as Bodi. I have a few draft forums, the percheronnetwork. I used to be on ablackhorse, as well as awhitehorse. I've been under the name PDA_Diane as well as pipedreamarabians. So here is me being a typical horse nut who can talk for hours non stop. I find it best to never have people come look at your horses. It's never a 30 minute thing, but turns into a 3 hour conversation.

After all this time of seeing pixs, it's about time you introduced yourself Diane (does this mean I can't call you Bodi anymore? :laugh1 )
Bodi is always welcome. I admit I rarely go by Diane online, and even when it is listed people still call me Bodi. ;)
LOL--I know what you mean. I have a number of people whose "names' are their screen names rather than their Christian names.

Welcome (back?) Bodi.

You mean you're not NZAppaloosas?
It was confusing when CounerCanter wanted to 'become' Sarah, Dangerranch morphed into Morgan, and Daylene left us for Admin. :P

Hubby looks at me sideways when ever I mention "MP"...he actually only knows of her by her real name, which I'm not sure how that worked out as I always call her either "MP" or MonsterPony"... :laugh1 Oh, it may have been from printing off the form needed to be signed by Steve...

You and Sara both call me that :D. Actually, IIRC, I was introduced to "the blonde thing" (before she gained that name) as Monsterpony. :rofl But you can only use "MP" around clients...Monsterpony might not go over well in the professional environment :laugh1 :rofl :laugh1

Don't worry, I'll try to remember your real name! BTW, we have sorted which phone you'll have while here, but not the phone number yet. That'll be done in the next couple of days, most likely.

Ha! I had forgotten that you met the Blonde Thing! I'm trying to refer to you as Dierdre now. Facebook helps with this real name thing.

Have I mentioned recently how awesome you are? Also, if you trying to learn my name, it isn't pronounced how its spelled. :laugh1

I guess you could say met. It was more she said Hi and then left the room and I didn't see her again so I probably couldn't pick her out in a crowd :laugh1 . I started calling you Sara when I would talk about why I was visiting Oregon or talking about some Welsh ponies I knew, etc and using Countercanter would get me weird looks.

Sorry for the thread stealing Bodi...er Diane...er American Diane :rofl

NZ Appaloosas Tue, 06/30/2009 - 01:38

Uhm, do you use the American pronunciation, the Irish pronunciation or something totally weird and different?

Diane

Well, for starters, she is blonde. I remember that she didn't make much of an appearance that day. If I had to guess, she was probably mad at me. It was probably because I hadn't left rose petals and a love note on her pillow that morning or something.

If you have an Irish accent (*drool*), you can use the Irish pronunciation. Otherwise, it is Dee-dra (one of the myriad of bastardized American pronunciations ).

Well, she did that both times I met her so maybe it was that I was using up all your time that you could have been spending with her :rofl

Morgan Tue, 06/30/2009 - 02:00

haha, yes facebook is certainly helping. I still get confused though. Someone on facebook will post something and I'm like..."ok, who is this again?" and I usually end up looking for a horse picture to ID them :laugh1
It took me forever to remember that Krickette is Katie, somehow I'd gotten it into my head that Krickette was her actual name.

Then I'd been DangerRanch for so long it's sometimes disapointing not to have the fun name of "Danger" or DR anymore, lol.

Sara Tue, 06/30/2009 - 19:10

You're probably right. I was not allowed to have friends, unless their name started with "blonde" and ended with "thing".

I did too!

zombie topic! i drug it up from it's grave!
but i was gonna say that yeah, i get that a lot. My mom calls me that sometimes, and I have a few internet friends that turned into real life friends, and they still call me Krickette. It sounds more fun, lol!
