"Gambol" was born 4/3/09 around 12 p.m. His delivery was unattended but his maiden mother did fantastic! He looks like he'll be black with two blue eyes, 4 whites, a wide blaze/apron face, and a spotty/lacey bum. How weird is that? It was everything I asked for! Here he is.. pictures taken yesterday. I'll post more when he gets his first turn out. New pictures! Well, atleast a week old pictures, lol. I took them a week ago and have been too busy to adjust them and then post them. I already need to get new pictures of him... he is coming along nicely already! He's pretty good looking I would say, although I can be a bit biased (hehe), I still think he is turning out well. Except for the fact that he is scared of me. He loved people the first few days, but once he got sick he constantly needed meds, and so I'll have to re-imprint him.
Also turns out he doesn't have blue eyes, but partial blues. One is almost completely blue though. Oh well, didn't get the complete blue eyes, but I still got a helathy babe.

You should see him now, really filling out nicely already.
And I'm not sure, I don't think so, but it's been a pain to treat because it gets better and partially scabs where he then begins to mess with it, scab falls off and the abrasion consequently gets bigger each time. I've just started wrapping it with medicine and hopefully that'll do the trick. If it doesn't make any more progress I'll be getting the vet back out to help treat it.

Injuries at the hock are a pain since they're hard to keep wrapped (if they end up needing that) and you do need to be careful that the infection doesn't enter the joint. My friend's horse got a splinter or something in her hock and had to go to New Bolton for some sort of surgery on it because they just couldn't beat the infection that set in with the usual drugs. Anyway I'm sure you're keeping a good eye on it. It's a shame when we have to harass our babies so soon after birth, isn't it? Inigo needed transfusions when he was a newborn and I felt awful watching him all sedated with a catheter in his neck. :(

He's very fiesty and he bites. Ha. It's been raining foreverrrr here so I haven't been able to get pictures, but as soon as it dries up I pretty promise! I really love how he is turning out, not just because I'm biased either. He's got very good bone and is growing like a weed. He is nonstop and almost always on the go. I'm glad he has come around from his shyness (without any training or extra time spent with him, either). Every time you walk by his paddock he darts across the field and to the fence to bug you! He's a cheeky little thing... manners will be coming early for him.

Barbara Livingston visited recently towards the end of May, and shot some pictures of Gambol and Cisco. So these are from when he was... about a month and a half old? He was born April 4. I need to get new ones of him already! I love how he is developing, despite being scraggly and brown from being sun bleached and foal shed!
