What do you think??

This colt was just born on another forum. I will only post links as I haven't asked for permission to post the actual pictures. No huge mystery here but I thought I would see what you all say. Color and any patterns you may see. :) http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt23/Lindsey6384/DSCF0559.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt23/Lindsey6384/DSCF0557.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt23/Lindsey6384/DSCF0555.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt23/Lindsey6384/DSCF0564.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Oh me likey!!!

Any info on the parents??
I didn't want to give any info on the parents right away. :D I was hoping to get a few more responses until I give It. :)

Well due to that post, for a moment I thought you were going to tell us neither parent is dun... and I'd have probably called you a fibber. :laugh1 But then I looked at the dam. :laugh1

critterkeeper Sun, 06/14/2009 - 10:19

Is this by chance the foal I think it is? Hehehehe... :bounce Oh, there is no doubt in my mind that the foal is dun (grulla or a slight possibility of bay dun "if" it's the foal I think it is). But, I will wait until you post the answer before I comment any further... :laugh1

Paintlover Sun, 06/14/2009 - 11:43

Ok, so the Dun gene was obvious but I did want your opinion on whether or not he was bay Dun or Grullo. I was thinking Grullo so I guess I am right.

Dam is Red Dun and Sire is Homozygous Black. No mystery there with color as the foal only source for agouti would be the mare.

However Sire is also Homozygous Tobiano!!!

Now the owner of the mare did say that the stallion owner also had a Grullo Quarter Horse??

Mare owner is planning on testing the colt for Tobiano.

This colt has no other white anywhere other then the legs and face!!

Here are some newer pictures that were just posted. These do show the leg white better.

Someone then posted these pictures of a minimal Tobiano out of two Tobianos.

lol!
I just saw this thread but when I was on the first post looking at the pics I DID think" that's a lot of socks for so little face white" but then I did pass it off as sabino with everyone else. :?
oh, and for sure grullo.

Daylene Alford Sun, 06/14/2009 - 13:04

I would love to have a copy of that photo of the minimal toby for the photo gallery. Any idea how to get in touch with the photo credit holders?

Thanks,

Daylene

Paintlover Sun, 06/14/2009 - 13:14

Daylene,
Are you talking the new colt or the older bay? Let me know and I will check into it for you.

accphotography Sun, 06/14/2009 - 14:31

I'll add this... I missed the way the white moves on the right front. I was pretty much only looking at the right hind. I suspect if I had noticed the right front I would have been suspicious. Tobiano is the only thing that causes that type of movement IMO, thought sometimes splash can mimic is (usually only with more face white).

Paintlover Sun, 06/14/2009 - 16:22

She hasn't posted pictures of the Parents. I can ask though.

I didn't trick you, honest!!!! Those pictures from the right side were there this morning but not when I posted last night. Yes, much more obvious.

Paintlover Sun, 06/14/2009 - 18:39
Oooooh OK. You're forgiven. :rofl ;)
Thank you oh kind master. :whip  ;)

Paintlover Sun, 06/14/2009 - 20:04
The bay would probably be best but either would be great

Thanks!
Okay, I will try that first. If not then I will ask the owner of the Grullo colt.

accphotography Sun, 06/14/2009 - 20:23

Oh what a gorgeous PHOTO of what looks to be a gorgeous horse!

I agree, something about him looks frame (not even including the eye).

Thanks for finding them!

NZ Appaloosas Sun, 06/14/2009 - 20:43

Keep in mind the black suppression theory...and is the owner 100% sure that dam is a chestnut+dun? That tail and those legs look a bit darker than I'd expect on a red dun (but then I've been somewhat immersed in "chocolate" coloured appy bay legs lately...)

Diane

accphotography Sun, 06/14/2009 - 20:44

FWIW she looks red to me. Sire is definitely black though and filly is definitely at least Ee.

Paintlover Sun, 06/14/2009 - 21:04

NZ, I don't know that she has tested the mare but I agree with ACC. Although one thing I have learned on here color is not always as it seems. :laugh1

That is the sire and I am pretty sure this is his other side. Same photoprapher. He is a pinto warmblood.

Well since his dam is a Paint mare then it's perfectly plausible he has frame. He's also by a sire I've long suspected of frame (it's unproven to date... an no wonder I like the stallions so much now that I know who his sire is). Interesting.

Yeah, I know!!! His sire is gorgeous. Funny thing when I first looked at the Grullo colts sire's photo I was thinking to myself that that doesn't look like a typical Paint. I was right. I like him a lot!!! *drool* Interestingly enough Warmbloods of Color are something I have thought of breeding. I love pinto patterns but I would like to find something other then just Paints to breed. Anyway, just brain storming there. It will be years before I will be able to breed other then the occasional foal.

Sara Sun, 06/14/2009 - 22:46

Fancy colors like what? Real warmblood people don't really like fancy colors. I've already had prejudice against Diana and we haven't hit the ring yet. People have asked whether I really want to try to show her since everyone will assume I am riding a Quarter Horse, given her color. :(

accphotography Sun, 06/14/2009 - 22:53

Well didn't they pretty much feel that way about pinto in the beginning too? Somebody's got to start somewhere. I'm sure there are people who would like to have them and I suspect the interest would grow.
