Patterns?

She's 1.5 years old, mixed breed. Owner has been told filly is a "tovero" (ducking now), and I've explained what "tovero" really stands for...base colour, presumed black, filly does have one blue eye, presuming full blue, not partial. So, what patterns do y'all see? Diane

Tobiano and splash for certain. I see reason to believe sabino. I doubt frame, but it's possible.

tobi and splash for sure, of course frame or sabion possible with that much color. (and it is a bit jaggedy)
She has one of those indian head markings :)

Ditto Morgan's comment...tobi, splash, possible sabino and suspect possible frame due to jaggedy edging :bounce

Okay, can y'all point out exactly where the jagged edges are, so I can show the owner? From comments, I would say that the owner is very new to the whole genetics thing.

The mare's right side. The white that juts out towards her flank is not typical of tobiano alone movement. Not only is horizontal flow like that not a tobiano thing, but the sharp shape of the markings isn't either. Tobiano moves in smooth, round flows (going down from the topline usually). Anything pointy edged is likely not due to tobiano alone, especially not if it also has a horizontal angle.

Tobiano and splash, chances are 'sabino' may be there and enough frameyness to be worth testing before breeding.

Tobiano + Splash...the thing with Sabino is that it really usually is there especially when Splash is there.

Rabbit, I'm shocked. You didn't say "test for frame"!! :laugh1

NZ does that make her a tovero? :laugh1 :rofl :laugh1 :rofl

Hehehe, owner was told mare was a 'tovero', and wasn't sure what that meant. Hence the digging into what the actual patterns are. :angel
