Piebald Whitetail--2 blue eyes, deaf.

Went out to a friends place to get some pics and video of her Thoroughbred she is trying to give away...and then we went to see the deer! Her family raises whitetails. Could only see the bucks through the fence as it is rutting season and they are dangerous at the moment...but we went into the doe field.

And here is Sparkle! She is a cutie, her only spots are on her neck and the back of one ear. She has two blue eyes and she is deaf.

I got several pics of her today, but at the moment this is all I have resized

They own her mother, and she is normal. Her sire was a piebald buck (they bought the doe bred). She has a twin as well--who is a normal brown.

I guess she is an extreme expression of piebald? How common are blue eyes? I did a quick image search and it seems like blue eyes aren't real common in piebald deer?

not very common I don't think, I can ask though. They only have one other piebald out there and she has dark eyes, but just as much white. The few bucks they have raised have all been all white, no blue eyes on any of them.

I'll have to ask Amy if she has a picture of Sparkles daddy.

I hadn't seen the more "splashy" looking ones like that before really...but with her blue eyes and deafness...

This is so interesting! Does anyone know how these mutations started, and anything about how they are passed on genetically?
