Well, my test took over 3 months. :D I wasn't exactly exaggerating. They do what they say and they are exceptionally nice and good to work with, but they are slow. Apparently they hold the tests until they have a bunch to run at one time. Sometimes I suppose you could get lucky and only have a weeks wait, or you could be like me and have the whole time.

so are those LWO tested or splasy blue eyed 'solids' all black, I can't remember but I am thinking all the posted ones that i have seen are black or bay. And are they EE? hmmmmm

now that you say it.....hmmmm....

I personally think it applies to all white patterning genes. The reds are always more colorful IME.

Gee... how much white would Lace have had if she had been black (or bay as it were since she's AA).

If I read the article correctly, it was dealing with Arabians, so it would not be LWO. Right????

OMG Ive just seen this ! does it still take that long ? I sent samples off three weeks ago , Im wishing Id sent them somewhere else now

accphotography Mon, 10/05/2009 - 18:55

Yes it does. In fact I need to add a further disclaimer to the original post. I don't trust their results whatsoever. I know several people who not only had difficulty with the time it took, but had several results proven wrong and alot of other fishy things. I wouldn't recommend them again. I've even reconsidered testing my mare elsewhere. Hopefully you won't have any trouble with yours.

Danni Thu, 10/29/2009 - 17:29

Hey what sort of things were wrong? I have a friend with quite a few horses to do and certainly likes the idea of all the colours plus the parentage DNA for costing her heaps less. So she shouldn't do it? Could the parantage be wrong too? I wish they'd make it work, it would make it much easier!!!

CMhorses Thu, 10/29/2009 - 17:55

I *think* it was things like a horse not testing the way it should have, or was thought to supposed to be, so they did retesting until they got the 'right' result. Also I could be completely wrong and remembering a whole nother case. Also can you keep us posted on if there are any other places that have an 'all in one' testing type thing?

supaspot60 Wed, 12/30/2009 - 17:50

Is anyone else waiting for results from Dna Diagnostics ,shelterwood Laboratories ? I sent samples in from two horses (veriSNP) back in september and Im still waiting for results nearly four months on , they wont even answer my emails and they are very vague on the phone :BH :BH :BH :hammer :hammer :hammer

accphotography Wed, 12/30/2009 - 17:56

I don't know of anyone still waiting, but I waited 3 months when I sent mine in so I'm not surprised. They wait until they can run a whole "batch" at one time, and given the last fiasco when a bunch of people learned never to use them again, I suspect they're going to have a hard time getting full batches in the future.

You can keep trying to call them, but I'm not sure it's going to get you anywhere. They're just...... I don't even know what to call them. You should see their BBB rating these days.

Unless you really need to test for almost every gene it might be easier to just send some hair to Animal Genetics for the things you most need to know.

just thought Id let you know that after months of hounding them with emails Ive recieved an answer telling me the tests are complete  and the results are in the post (10 feb ) .....its only taken FIVE MONTHS !!!!!!

TwinCreeksFarm Mon, 02/15/2010 - 20:42

how come you say that they may not be reliable? (in terms of testing accuracy)
thinking of getting gambol tested with them.. he may have cream I feel! such an odd color. 'course, he's appy patterned too lol. I'm in no rush for the results and I likey the price.

accphotography Mon, 02/15/2010 - 21:00

Because they change their results at the drop of a hat. If you call and question a result they will say "oops, no, sorry it's actually ____". If they don't change it, they say "oh we need to re run that test". They've also reported multiple results that directly conflict with other labs (in some cases, multiple labs).

Rusti Tue, 02/16/2010 - 12:26

Just wanted to add that I'm currently awaiting test results from DNA Diagnostics. They've been very helpful and informative every time I've talked to them on the phone, and said to expect my results any day now (sent hair on 1-28).
