I was wondering what causes a chestnut horse to have a darker mane and tail instead of a self colored one? My horse seems to have a very dark liver chestnut or nearly black tail with a light body color and self colored mane, and then we have a rocky mountain with a dark red mane and tail on a lighter coat.
Edit:
Oh before I forget, I was 'pretending' to clip my mini mare and noticed that she has a rather large spot on her belly. I thought she was only tobiano, but could this mean something else? or just something that minis express with their odd patterns
Re: Chestnut Quesion
To me it looked like he had similar things that Lacy had, the shoulder bars, you can kinda see a dorsal, and his legs look striped. I checked other photos that were taken around the same time and he still looked the same ( I was trying to make sure it was not just the lighting or something).
Speaking of hair shafts, who was it on the old forum, in Australia, that was doing the hair shaft thingy, and have they been notified of the new forum? Hoofpick?
Hoofpick=Amanda. But there may be more than one Amanda in Australia, so I am sure that is not much help. :laugh1
Is Appylady aboard? And Luvmy(?forgot) I think we lost quite a few.
Re: Chestnut Quesion
I found an older picture of Smokey that supports the dun idea.
