Blue or bay roan??

Ok I always thought a true blue roan had/has a black head. But I see so many listed as blue roan but have a bay/brown head. So whats the "correct" color?? http://www.oasisquarterhorses.com/ACowboyAtHeart.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That does look like a bay roan to me, and that would be the correct way to state it, genetically. But many people just go by color, and if you have a dark base coat, even if its chestnut, the intermingled white hairs will create the "blue" sheen for which the color was named.

He certainly has an unusual version of a bay roan. He's the darkest one I've seen. Nice nice horse.

See thats what I thought!
Way too much "red/brown" in the body & head too to be a "blue" roan...IMO!!!

Thats like this filly..

They have her listed as a blue roan, but the head says otherwise.

That filly looks even like a possible buckskin roan to me.

I think the sire is bay roan. I have seen darker versions though, seal brown roans.
