Blue eyes

My friend's mare just had a foal and she was telling me it was a buckskin with blue eyes. She asked if all foals were born with blue eyes and I told her no, it is probably either splash or frame. She said the mother is solid black and the father is a palimino (no idea on the markings) but I know neither of them are obvious paints. The foal also does not have any white markings at all. What is most likely giving him the blue eyes? My idea was frame, thinking back on the fallabela that supaspot has I can get pictures sometime soon if needed. On a side note, what post/forum are the pictures of that mini showing his eyes up close on?

I'll wager $10 they're "baby cream blues", not true blues. They'll turn to amber or normal brown later. Ask her if they are a bright, sky blue or a darker, gray blue.

I know what ACC is saying and I agree, the tone of the blue is important at this age.

Yep, Cream Dilutes often have slate coloured blue eyes at birth.

We've only had 3 creams born here so I guess I never noticed.

Absolutely, yes, I had a Palomino whose eyes were so bright I was not sure if she was Cremello for three days!!!
When they started to fade they went quite quickly, though, but were never brown.
I also had a jet black filly with two startling blue eyes...Splash, but not a white hair on her!!
