Oh I LOVE that red mare with the roaning.

On another note, bottom left is a reverse dapple roan.

I LOVE how colorful the Barbs come in. I have no idea what contributed to it because they are another type of horse that has everything thrown into it. There are some breeders who I find specialize in barbs..tho I don't know if they blood test for them or not (different then the claimed barbs here in America). But for the most part I think the barbs in Africa just breed as native horses do. I've seen a few blog posts of people traveling in the area, and the colors are just...gah...there's everything in there. Don't think I've seen silver in there, but there might be.

Yes huge birdcatcher spots LOL !!!

I love Barbs, in all my old horsey books they always show a skinny rough looking horse but they are so much prettier than that and have contributed to so many other well known breeds - thanks for sharing.

I think Lipigirl is referring to the way women and animals are treated in Morocco and other North-African and Middle-East areas... :BH
Here is a report of somebody who lived in that area for a long time and breeds Barbs for a long time as well:

I have seen things like described above first hand in the Middle East and Tunesia, so disgusting. I decided to not travel in this regions anymore because of the nightmares that followed upon watching the treatment of animals...

...please use google translater or the like!

OOOOOOHHHHHHHH! You want an odd-ball game that will have EVERYONE laughing hysterically?
Make the men/boys ride w/ bra's filled with waterballoons! NO TOUCHING OR HOLDING THE BALLOONIES! Gotta race to the end, circle the pole and race back to the finishline w/ your balloonies intact.

You can get a large selection of large-sized ladies' bras at goodwill; large cup sizes (like D or DD) and large band sizes to fit around men's torso's. You could also 'alter' them by using ribbons at the ends of the hook/eye parts to tie them to the men but they have to put their arms through the straps and have the balloonies on their chest, like ladies.

This type of class is mostly just for fun and to let the men have fun and get them involved. It is so funny to watch and everyone has such a great time. I haven't seem women compete, but I think they'd have an unfair advantage, especially if they are nicely endowed and already have a 'shelf' to hold the balloonies ... and I think younger girls would be too embarassed to ride with balloonies bouncing around on them ... that is what makes this so hysterical to watch when the men ride. I've only seen it at a gaited horse event, but I bet the extra bounce of non-gaited horses would be just as hysterical.

Why, yes. Yes, it *is* cheating. It definitely separates the smooth from the choppy, though! Can't hide that balloonie-bounce. ;-)

When my mare was at my friend's farm last summer, I remember coming over to ride one day *deliberately* w/ no bra just so I could rub it in about how no-bounce my Paso is. If I started bouncing, I knew Tigre was getting out of gait and I'd just wiggle the reins to bring her back into gait.
