appaloosas

I thought these young appaloosas had really interesting base colors, but they are not what they say they are I don't think...what are they? http://appaloosa.myhorseforsale.com/appaloosa-for-sale-in-tennessee/bri…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://appaloosa.myhorseforsale.com/appaloosa-for-sale-in-kansas/rvrmr-…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mr Reward could easily be grullo, not sure why they're saying "slate gray"...

Not sure why they are using "blue roan" on Brisco other than the fact that ApHC has the bad habit of naming EACH appaloosa as a "roan", since they don't delineate the pattern as such...i.e., a leopard would be "xyz roan, white over body with spots, or something like that. He could be black, and I'd take odds he's at least black-based.

I thought maybe buckskin on Brisco, but wasn't sure on Mr Reward, It did say grulla for him but you wouldn't beable to see a dorsal stripe because of his blanket and I didn't see any bars on his legs.......is grulla always dun?

Grullo is always dun and well, dun on black makes primitive markings hard to see ;-) He's also likely a snowcap, which makes it harder, but with a dun on spotted blanket (or leopard), look to see how the dorsal spots line up...

The "problem" is that they are also apps, and it could just be Lp funkifying black, or it could be creme, or it could be dun...Brisco's lines, never heard of anything shown on his pedigree, and can't say I recall Love This Mr's colour...he does have Gold Heels (pali) way back when, so I guess creme could be present.

Oh thanks, I think they are both nice horses with nice color, esspecially the Reward, I like the snowcap blanket and he has 1 cool dark spot low on his left hip. When we get our own horse property again we will get another Appaloosa, they are my daughter Esthers favorite horse and I have always like them too.

First one is a bay base, I think. Second may well be Grullo base....
