anyone that knows flowering trees?
I have a tree in the front yard, we planted it there this year, it was "free to a good home" ;) and now we are not sure if the people had any idea what it was... because its not looking like we think it should. I am not going to say what they told us it was, I want just guesses to start with. huh...our Tulip trees here

huh...our Tulip trees here that grow wild look totally different. Is this just a different type or same name for a totally different tree. Liriodendron tulipifera is the one that grows wild here (Tulip tree, sometimes called tulip poplar or yellow poplar). I'm best with trees that are native to where I live...thank you college dendrology classes..haha

I am part of a "freecycle"

I am part of a "freecycle" group, its where people post things they are giving away. So when someone posted that they wanted to give away this tree they said it was a hardy hibiscus tree, and that would have been great as well. But when it started to flower out it didn't look right... so that is when I posted photos.

Mom and Steve bought an other tulip tree just the other day and it cost them $150 for a tiny tree, maybe 2 feet tall. So I am totally excited that I was able to get this one for FREE :)
