Any other thyroid members?
I am soooooo frustrated. had to get a ultra sound on my neck last week , "goiters" inside and doc was concerned of thyroid cancer, US came back OK, no calcification yet but several "tumors"...so whatever... i will now get bloodwork every 6 mo instead of yearly, I was SURE that my levels would be high again and my dosage would need to be up'd , i have all the typical symptomes and its killin me and naggin at my LIFE! i was only a 3.5 and should be a 2.5 but not high enough to up the dose without potantially causing heart palpations( which happen to me before when they up'd me) but high enough that it is effecting my life....grrrr I am now looking to try some suppliments with my regular meds but wondering if it will ruin my regular meds ...this thyroid crap is a PITA!!!! I have to work to hard weekly and by thursday int he week I crash HARD...i fall asleep by 6pm and dont get up till morning. I am leary of suppliments that are not controlled by FDA and dont know , but i want more then what im getting from my precriptions! ANYONE?

I'm sorry Heather. :( I don't have any experience with this myself but my sister had thyroid cancer (which makes my chances for getting it higher, I think) and now she is on meds all the time too. Hopefully someone else here will be able to help you out more.

My MIL has some thyroid issues, but she just found out about them. Since they started treating her, she looks like a different person....We hadn't noticed how puffy her face had gotten...

I am so clueless...I'm just glad she's finally figured it out. She also had thinning hair and fatigue. She claims to feel like she did years ago again. She's never said Hyper or Hypo....just "a thyroid" problem...She had a lot of other things - bloodclots and an ovarian tumor. I only took her to the docs for the clots and tumor, my brother-in-law took her for the thyroid, but the hospital visit for the operation on...shoot, something prior to the tumor, is where they found the thyroid issue.

How long have you been being treated? It took SO many different docs and so many second opinions to finally get to the bottom of it all.... Can you get a second opinion?

Ive been treated for it for about 8 years? and a handful of different doctors and endocrinologist. The endo was the first and I made a appt and got tested for the first time and said I was hypothyroid and needed to be dealt with lol , no referral ..nothing he thought I was WACK till he got my results back 8-) You know how doctors love for a patient to come in and have a self diagnosis LOL :whip

Re: Any other thyroid members?

Sorry Heather - not good. I am still trying to regulate mine - mine packed up after Brianna was born and I wondered why I put on 16 lbs after I had given birth - am still really cross about it but since it went cannot lose weight even though they assure me my levels are right.

I did go to a really good site on Thyroid issues which was very informative - told me that you can even have a resistance to Thyroxine making it difficult for your body to use it effectively. This is the site, I printed bits off and took them to my GP who had never heard of this but then as this site is the UK Thyroid site me thinks they must know what they are talking about. Hope it helps but I can comiserate with you, I've been excessively tired and had swollen glands for years and blood tests showd that it was down to M.E. but now it also seems to be down to Hypothyroidism, M.E. and endometriosis and being a Mum - Don't take no from your doctor go get em ! - hugs.xxx
