Am I wrong?
I have always called a thin, jagged-y line that squiggles up the face, usually from one corner to the opposite corner (like from R nostril towards L eye/ear) a "race". IS that a horse facial marking? Does anyone have any examples of it? Is it just an outdated expression I picked up somewhere and it is just stuck in my head? I've googled and cannot find any images, it just brings up 'racing photos', not markings.

Nope, seems you're not wrong:
http://www.cowboyway.com/HowTo/HorseFace..." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.theequinest.com/define-your-h..." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've never heard it called that before though.

I have also never heard that term either. Interesting those sites say that, though I don't call most of their "bald faces" bald faces, but oh well.

Re: Am I wrong?

Those sites are correct to everything I have ever been taught, and most of what I was taught was based on registries, so technically they are correct.

Re: Am I wrong?

Thanks, I don't know where/when I picked that little tidbit up, but it has stuck with me forever. I have seen many tabby/white cats that have a "race" on their face, so I carried the horse term over to them...

Re: Am I wrong?

Yes, I have heard it used...it seems to be an "older" expression, and since people nowadays seem to have trouble grasping the most simple terms regarding pattern, I tend not to add yet another into the mix!!!

Re: Am I wrong?

Now that you mentioned it I have heard of a race before, just forgot what it was.

I also think of a bald face as the white encircling the the eyes, not just being from this point or that point.
