I don't know of any groups. I never found anything that helped me except to just sit down and shoot the same thing about a hundred times on a bunch of different settings until I figured it all out. The manual will help you some too. The settings will be different with virtually every single shot you take unless you use the fully automatic mode.

Thanks!!
Dang I wish there was a place that would be good to learn.

I normally just leave it (my current camera) on automatic...biggest reason is cuz I have NO clue about the settings!! lol

Read the manual... about a bazillion times. That's what it took for me. :laugh1 I used to ONLY use automatic... now I use the FULLY manual mode and wouldn't dream of using anythign else.

I am not a professional but what ACC said is exactly how I learned. I used to hate using manual but now I use it the majority of the time.

I also joined an email newsletter that I really enjoy. Sometimes they come weekly while other times I won't get one for quite sometime. Some things don't apply to me as I don't have the equipment they recommend for shooting some subjects.

Here is the link to one of their latest articles. http://digital-photography-school.com/f…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You should be able to sign up from there. What I really appreciate about this place is they look to lots of different photographers for ideas and they sometimes have inexpensive ways to get by without the equipment that professionals have. No, it may not be as good but it is helpful anyway and a good way to learn. :)
