The color term Seal

So I have been researching Pit Bull colors, and have found quite a few people refer to their dog as being Seal. In equine terms, these dogs would look like faded blacks. I'm not sure if any test breedings have been done or not. Owners describe their seal dogs as looking black at first, but if standing next to a true black dog, they have faded hairs though out their coats. From the images I have found, I think their nose is black, so that would rule out brown. Any thoughts? http://www.adbadog.com/p_gallary.asp?ai… http://www.adbadog.com/p_gallary.asp?ai… http://www.adbadog.com/p_gallary.asp?ai… http://www.adbadog.com/p_gallary.asp?ai… all one dog with different lighting http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32… http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32… http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32… http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32… http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd30… http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m189… side by side  http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32… http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32… http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy32…

bowserpup,  Thank you for posting your pup.  He does indeed have the very strange coloring in which, I and others, have been interested.   Would you be willing to test him for Dominant black and agouti?

rabia,  Thank you!  I can't wait to see how she tests.

I keep looking, hoping to find an answer. No luck. Everywhere I turn I see Seal colored dogs now lol. Just yesterday I was walking my friends Beagle, and a Seal Belgian Mal and her owner were walking with us. The coat is much more interesting to see in person than in photographs. You can see the color change of the coat so much better and the design it leaves, as well as look at the hairs (which are banded).
