Chicken Color Genetics

So....I was gifted a chicken coop for Christmas and I'm starting to fill it up now :D

I'm hoping to learn more about color genetics as I plan on crossing some of my breeds for utility farmyard "mutt" chickens. Even egg color genetics would be cool (although what little I have read has been fairly straight forward). The feather color/patterning genetics info seems to be harder to come by though.

the flock of 37 chickens also includes 7 guineas, one of which is minimal pied.

-9 Buckeyes (one is supposed to be a cockerel).

-9 Easter Eggers (one confirmed cockerel). A plethora of colors in these guys! Could possibly lay blue, green, pinkish or brown eggs

-4 Buff Brahmas (I ordered three, they tossed in an extra, so it may be a cockerel). These guys have leg feathering

-3 Black Australorps

-3 Cuckoo Marans (these should lay super dark chocolate brown eggs)

-3 Plymouth Barred Rocks

-1 White Leghorn (my only white egg layer!)

-5 New Hampshires

I'll attach a picture I have handy of my little Easter Egger cockerel, Roux.

found it :D do you ever plan on adding a chicken section on here? I know one is sorely needed! I've gathered up tiny bits of info from here and there, but never a nice big chunk all in one place :D

I think you should :D

I know of several people I've talked to that know just bits and pieces and said they would like to know more, but can't find a good resource for finding correct information (what is known as fact, what is theory, etc) or if they do find something--nothing visual is there. I know I've ran into that problem...I'm a very visual person. I can google terms all day, but when you go to look, there are so many "wrong" mixed it with all the "right" so it gets super confusing.

The only real resource I have for chickens is that facebook groups...  Let me do some digging and see what I can find.   If I can get someone who knows more than I to fact check I may try to put something together.

I found a forum, but it seems most of my questions just get flat out overlooked there or on the facebook group due to the ones I'm wanting to know about being "mutts" (Easter Eggers). But I think it's the same group of people on facebook that are a part of that forum....
