Shades of Silver....

SO I am right to assume silver has all the different shades as bay/brown would? My new mare is a silver bay (damn I wanted a silver black, lol) but she is really chocolate with dapples to her coat, smokey chocolate legs and blonde mane and tail and not redish at all. Whereas another mare I wanted to buy last year (related to her) has a really red coat with smokey legs, forelock and tail yet her mane is still black. Carasouel is the mare I looked at buying last year (shes chestnut silver x bay mating) And Misty is the mare im leasing, she is silver black (Sire of above silver chestnut) x silver bay mating.

I think you have two things effecting shade, the underlying bay colour, whether it's brown, a redder bay etc.. and then I suppose you have more or less silver expression.

Yes I like a red bodied silver bay with real flaxen with the chocolate-silver legs. I like the contrast of the colours.
< Mia has that contrast, just my pic doesn't show it too well. I like it almost as much as a nicely contrasted silver black.

Carousel has that lovely contast happening 8-)
